Network Rail Lighting Project
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Office Lighting Project: Efficiency & Safety Illumination Enhancement
Project Information
Network Rail stands as the steward of Britain's extensive rail infrastructure, comprising tracks, bridges, tunnels, signals, and stations.
Among these, Birmingham New Street Station holds a significant place, serving over 140,000 passengers daily.
The recent administrative team relocation within the station demanded sophisticated lighting solutions to ensure optimal illumination, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Network Rail partnered with NVC Lighting to navigate these requirements seamlessly.
Bridging Light and Efficiency
With the extensive redevelopment of Birmingham New Street station and the subsequent move of administrative teams, lighting became a crucial aspect in creating a conducive and efficient workspace. The challenge was to align the lighting solutions with Network Rail's commitment to energy conservation, regulatory adherence, and employee well-being.
Crafting Illumination Excellence
In search of a reliable and comprehensive lighting solution, Network Rail sought the expertise of Rexel, the local branch of an esteemed electrical distributor. The proposed solution centered on NVC's advanced lighting products, notably the Sterling side-lit panels with micro-prismatic controllers and Westport IP40 low-glare recessed LED circular luminaires.
Safety Meets Efficiency
Emergency lighting, a cornerstone of workspace safety, required specialized attention. NVC's Preston IP54-rated LED halo effect circular bulkheads and Seneca IP40-rated recessed LED emergency luminaires were tailored for self-testing, offering not only compliance but also streamlining testing processes through automatic reporting. The installation also included LED emergency wall-mounted exit boxes and PIR systems.
Cost-Efficiency and Performance
Network Rail's decision to embrace NVC's lighting solutions translated into substantial cost savings and enhanced workspace quality. The assurance of a 5-year guarantee accompanied by anti-glare functions cemented their confidence in NVC's products. This choice not only resulted in a budget-friendly transition but also contributed to a better working environment for employees, minimizing discomfort associated with prolonged computer use.
Radiance of Achievement
As Network Rail's administrative offices are now bathed in the radiance of NVC's lighting excellence, the partnership stands as a testament to the convergence of technological prowess and visionary workspace enhancement. The combination of cost-effectiveness, compliance, and illumination performance has elevated the work environment to new heights.
