Industrial Lighting Project: Factory and Distribution Facility Illumination Enhancement
Project Information
In the heart of South Shields, the legacy of J Barbour & Sons Limited unfurls like a tale of timelessness.
Established in 1894, this iconic luxury and lifestyle brand continues to weave its global influence from its historic abode.
Known for its classic wax jackets, the brand's essence extends beyond fashion into the realm of tradition and craftsmanship.
A Beacon of Craftsmanship
The sprawling 120,000 sq. ft site at Bedesway stands as more than just a factory and distribution center.
It is a testament to Barbour's commitment to excellence.
Home to a diverse array of footwear, clothing, and accessories, this site employs 150 individuals, each contributing to the brand's legacy.
Recognizing the need for a revitalized luminous landscape, Barbour undertook a comprehensive renovation journey, illuminating not just spaces but also the path toward greater efficiency and productivity.
Illuminating Barbour's Transformation
In Barbour's pursuit of improved lighting, NVC Lighting emerged as the torchbearer of illumination.
The existing lighting system, marred by inefficiency and unreliability, demanded a transformation that would complement Barbour's ethos of quality.
A Radiant Partnership
The collaborative spirit between Barbour and NVC Lighting extended beyond the specifications.
NVC's proposal, meticulously tailored to Barbour's needs, caught the eye of Andrew Liddle, Barbour UK and Ireland's Facilities Manager.
The selection process was underpinned by factors ranging from cost-effectiveness to delivery timescales.
The clinching factor was NVC Lighting's five-year unlimited-hours product warranty, signifying a commitment to durability and performance.
Precision Installation, Radiant Transformation
The collaboration found expression through Electrical contractor Dougal & Railton's diligent installation of over 400 Greenland IK10, IP65-rated industrial LED luminaires.
This transformation heralded myriad benefits, from improved light levels that fostered a happier and more productive workforce to enhanced emergency lighting provisions that exceeded fire safety requirements.
The IK10 impact rating imbued these luminaires with resilience, ensuring their steadfastness even in the face of inadvertent impact.
A Luminous Future
The rejuvenated lighting landscape not only augments the aesthetics of the workspace but also aligns seamlessly with Barbour's energy-saving initiatives.
Andrew Liddle's estimation of a 40% cost reduction underscores NVC Lighting's contribution to Barbour's sustainability pursuits.
